Pass the Torch for Women Foundation’s mission is to create a community that guides women as they navigate their career pathways by providing mentorship and networking opportunities. Since its creation in 2014, the Foundation has served over three-hundred (300) female college students, one-hundred (100) Developing Professionals, and over one hundred (100) 500 Circle executive mentors.

On June 18th, Pass the Torch Day, we will also launch a new sixty-day fundraising campaign, with a goal of raising $50,000. This campaign will allow Pass the Torch for Women Foundation to increase its impact in supporting women across the nation. Proceeds will be used for a need-based mentee fund that will ensure mentees have a strong foundation of support for their personal, professional, and basic needs.

By donating to this campaign, you are are helping to empower a woman to fulfill her career goals while alleviating roadblocks.

Here is some more information about the need-based mentee fund:

As mentees in the Pass the Torch community work to establish their careers, they face many challenges. Not all of those challenges can be solved through mentorship. What happens if a mentee’s car breaks down and she can’t get to work or school? What if a mentee starts a new job and needs to pay for professional clothes? How can mentees prioritize professional development when faced with financial road-blocks that stand in their way?
Pass the Torch for Women Foundation is establishing a need-based fund to help provide a safety net for mentees and allow them to stay focused on their goals.

WHAT IS THE NEED-BASED MENTEE FUND?
Pass the Torch for Women Foundation’s need-based fund is a new initiative for current mentees. Project Grow students, Project Grow Alumna, and Developing Professionals will be able to apply to receive funds to cover some of their financial needs while they work towards their career goals.

For example, scholarships could be used for:
• Car repairs
• Professional clothes
• Textbooks
• Utility bills
• Medical expenses
• Other financial necessities that a mentee proposes

HOW MUCH MONEY WILL BE AWARDED?
The total goal amount for the fund will be $25,000.
The maximum amount that can be requested is $500. The amount awarded varies from case to case, and there is an application process.

WHAT CAN THE NEED-BASED FUND MONEY BE USED FOR?
Money from the need-based fund is intended to be used for financial necessities and to ease the stress of making ends meet as mentees work towards their career goals.

HOW DO YOU APPLY?
Once the fund launches, there will be an online application where mentees will be able to answer a few questions about their future goals, and how they would put the scholarship to good use.

This donation is about a cost of a car repair. Hoping to help a mentee make it to work and stay on the career trajectory.
