About

Raisin' for Riley

by Sagamore Leadership Initiative

Welcome to the Raising for Riley organization founded by the National Junior Honor Society members at Kingsway Christian School. We are hoping to raise $500 to give blankets and stuff animals to the children at Riley hospital. Our organization is dedicated to helping children feel safe, comfy, and comfortable at Riley. We know how scary it is to stay at a hospital overnight. One of our National Junior Honor Society members has a good friend who has had many surgeries at Riley. When he was born, he was born prematurely. Additionally, he was born with a reversed heart valve; this led to three heart surgeries. He ended up having to stay at Riley for four months. Four months is a long time to stay in a place that is not your home. Hundreds of kids must go through these types of situations at Riley Hospital. The least that we can do is provide blankets and stuff animals for these children. We hope that the blankets will make the children feel more secure, while the stuff animals will bring a little bit joy into their lives.

This is my campaign. I held a fundraiser party at my house with my school friends and received this in donations.

We have battled cancer in our family, primarily as adults. That is scary. As a child we can only imagine how much more intimidating it can be. A blanket or stuffed animal is a nice comforting touch to provide for them during the battle, but can also serve as a reminder of their victory or a memorial of their valiant battle later.
