Kara's Walk to End Alzheimer's

by Kara Hanley

5 years ago my family was shocked by the news that my mother had early on set dementia. She was 47 and we had noticed some memory changes but never had we suspected this would be the case. As my family has adjusted to each new phase of Alzheimer's, we have seen so much joy and sang so many songs with my mom. She may not remember my wedding or know who I am any more, she has never lost the joy and fun she always brought to a room.

This last year my mom has declined quicker than we have seen in the past years. With her declining health we have reached out to the Alzheimer's Association more for resources for care givers and for support for my mom. They have been a priceless resource to my parents and a needed resource to families experiencing Alzheimer's

I am walking to end Alzheimer's so no daughter will be forgotten by their mother!
